Summerlin is a large master-planned community on the valley's western edge, climbing toward the Spring Mountains. Part of it sits inside the City of Las Vegas and part, Summerlin South, is unincorporated Clark County. It is quieter and greener than the resort corridor, with parks, trails and golf.
Downtown Summerlin
Downtown Summerlin is an open-air district of shops and restaurants, with the Las Vegas Ballpark, home of the Aviators, and the Golden Knights' practice arena nearby. It is an easy landmark for a handoff when you are staying in the area.

Red Rock Canyon starts at the edge of town
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is only a short drive from Summerlin along Charleston Boulevard. Its scenic drive loops past red sandstone, trailheads and viewpoints. Red Rock Casino, at Charleston and the 215, is a familiar landmark on the way out of town.

The scenic drive uses timed-entry reservations for much of the year, so reserve your slot before heading out. Arriving early also means cooler hiking temperatures.
The right car for the canyon
The scenic drive is paved, so any of our vehicles can handle it. Many guests still prefer the Lexus NX for park days because of the seating position and room for gear.
Further west and north
Mount Charleston, with its cooler air and pine forest, is usually under an hour from Summerlin, a welcome break in summer.

Getting around from the west side
The 215 beltway wraps around Summerlin and connects south and east to the airport, usually twenty-five to thirty-five minutes away. Neighboring areas include Spring Valley directly to the southeast, the southwest valley along the beltway, Downtown Las Vegas east along Charleston, and the Strip, about twenty minutes away.
